Describe the complete route at both properties
A weight alone does not establish how the item can be moved. Include its starting room and floor, the destination room and floor, the loading point and the route through doors, stairs or elevators.
Photos and measurements of turns, landings, narrow openings and slopes help explain the work. If the proposed route relies on shared access or another property, identify the permission needed before treating it as available.

Confirm the handling plan and specialty price

Any specialty surcharge requires owner approval before the quote is finalized. Share the complete scope early so the handling decision and price can be discussed before the moving appointment is settled.
Prepare for the agreed access route
Once the arrangements are agreed, make the designated entrance and route accessible. Identify any components or preparation that need attention before the item can be carried, and share relevant instructions with the move details.
Report changes to the item, stairs, parking or destination before arrival. A different route can change the handling requirements even when the item itself is unchanged.

What if I do not know the item's weight?
Share the make, model, dimensions and photos, along with any manufacturer information you have. Mark the weight as unknown rather than guessing confidently. The missing details can then be identified before a handling plan is confirmed.
Can a heavy item be moved on stairs?
That requires review of the particular item and staircase. Include photos and dimensions of flights, turns, landings and low clearance, plus the route at delivery. The presence of stairs can affect the handling decision as well as estimated time.
What equipment will be used for my heavy item?
The equipment and crew need to match the reviewed item and route. IronAtlas uses appropriate moving equipment for agreed work, but this page does not promise a particular specialty device or method. Provide the details first so the necessary arrangements can be confirmed.
How is the specialty surcharge determined?
The item, weight, dimensions, access and handling needs are reviewed before a surcharge is finalized. Owner approval is required for that specialty charge. A standard hourly rate by itself is not a final quote for an unusual item.
Does a heavy item need review if it is staying inside my home?
Yes. A move between rooms or floors still involves lifting, clearance and access. Share the starting and ending locations, stairs and item details so the handling can be reviewed even when no transportation is needed.
